Next-gen GPUs delayed, now eyeing 2027 launches

GPU nerds might need to hibernate because new cards aren't coming anytime soon. Fresh gossip suggests the next major discrete graphics transition will drag out way past normal windows, with both AMD and Nvidia supposedly eyeing 2027 timelines instead of anything closer.

Sources claim Team Red finished their next design and taped out on the N3P process at TSMC. Reaching that checkpoint allows early testing, yet it rarely guarantees shelves will see stock quickly. The rumor mill links a potential Radeon showcase to Computex 2027.

Nvidia appears equally sluggish, with chatter placing GeForce RTX 60 series cards in the second half of that same year. Those boards apparently rely on Rubin architecture tied to a GR20x family. If true, the current generation must survive a painfully long lifecycle.

Memory supply pressures supposedly complicate things further. DRAM dynamics affect manufacturing costs and limit how many models hit the market at once. High prices for chips mean vendors must calculate launch windows carefully to protect margins.

Strategy plays a huge role here as well. AMD might intentionally delay RDNA 5 until after Team Green reveals their hand. Waiting allows them to undercut competitor pricing rather than guessing blindly against an incumbent with massive market share.
