Nicki Minaj to speak at UN on Nigeria violence

American rapper Nicki Minaj will participate in a United Nations gathering in New York to discuss jihadist attacks targeting Christians in Nigeria. The artist will appear alongside US Ambassador to the UN Michael Waltz and Alex Bruesewitz, who serves as a senior adviser to former President Donald Trump, according to Time senior political correspondent Eric Cortellessa.

Waltz praised the recording artist as a principled figure willing to address injustice and expressed appreciation for her use of a significant platform to highlight persecution facing Christians in the West African nation. Minaj indicated gratitude for the invitation and emphasized her commitment to confronting injustice through her influence.

The gathering follows Trump's characterization of violence against Christians in Nigeria as genocide, which prompted the designation of the country as a nation of particular concern. Nigerian officials have rejected claims of religious violence and attribute security challenges to criminal elements.
