Nigeria Faces N183tn Credit Crunch Crisis

Nigeria needs about 183 trillion naira for proper credit development according to CREDICORP leader Uzoma Nwagba. The government agency wants to connect credit scores with National Identification Numbers for all loan applications. Officials plan to create one central credit office for the entire country. The system will track every person who borrows money and build detailed records. Lenders must report all loan payments to keep accurate credit scores.

People who fail to pay back loans will face real consequences through government services. Passport renewals might be denied if someone owes money somewhere. Driver license renewals could also be blocked for unpaid debts. House rentals may become impossible for people with bad credit records. The system will track loans from banks and small lenders alike.

Every Nigerian citizen will receive a credit score under the new rules. Government computers will analyze financial and personal information to create these scores. Banks and lending companies cannot hide loan defaults anymore. People who borrow money will have no way to escape their payment duties. The credit tracking covers all types of lending institutions across Nigeria.
