North Bank Farmers Develop Annual Action Plan.
KEREWAN, Gambia - The North Bank Regional Agroecology Platform met on Tuesday. They worked on an annual action plan. Action Aid International-The Gambia and Njawara Agricultural Training Center helped organize the meeting.
The meeting, held at the ADWAC Conference Hall, updated stakeholders on the platform's progress over the past two years.
Masamba Joof is the Executive Director of ADWAC. He said the platform promotes the use of organic manure, which can reduce climate change effects and increase food production. Mr. Joof warned that GMO seeds can harm soil nutrients and people's health. He advised farmers to choose their seeds carefully.
Dembo Samateh is the Deputy Governor of the North Bank Region. He thanked the organizers for their work and said the meeting would encourage farming, which is good for the environment and food security. Mr. Samateh asked farmers to use best practices, organic manure, and agroforestry. He thanked ADWAC and SOLICITA for supporting women.
Alpha Sey directs the Njawara Agricultural Training Center. He said the meeting would teach stakeholders about agroecology. Agroecology can benefit food production and animal breeding.
Ebrima Jallow chairs the National Livestock Owners Association in the region. He said farmers should support the agroecology platform to improve food production.
