NTT DATA bets big as Vinesh Maharaj takes smart manufacturing throne in MEA

NTT DATA has picked a new boss to run their smart manufacturing division across the Middle East and Africa. Vinesh Maharaj gets the top job after spending 30 years working with factory automation and artificial intelligence systems. The tech giant wants to focus more on manufacturing after already launching successful retail and banking departments last year. Maharaj has worked as a management consultant at a major firm and sits on several engineering boards. He holds professional engineering licenses and director certifications from South Africa.

The manufacturing industry is worth more than 16 trillion dollars around the world and drives economic growth everywhere. South Africa gets about 13 percent of its national income from manufacturing while the rest of Africa makes around 10 percent. Car makers, food companies, and machinery builders lead the way in creating jobs and wealth. Factory owners face big problems trying to upgrade their old computer systems and train workers on new technology. Many struggle with cyber attacks and can't find skilled staff to run modern equipment.

Companies that embrace digital transformation can boost their efficiency through smart robots and predictive computer programs. They can also build stronger supply chains that connect better with suppliers and customers. Environmental concerns push manufacturers to adopt cleaner processes using data-driven insights. NTT DATA believes Maharaj can help factory owners overcome these challenges and compete globally with advanced technology solutions.
