Ntuli seeks police after deadly Wentworth shooting

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli expressed grave concern following a violent shooting in Wentworth that resulted in two fatalities and seven individuals being wounded. He called for a heightened police presence in the area. The provincial leader is collaborating with Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi to dispatch additional officers and organize a special community meeting focused on combating crime.

The attack occurred on Major Calvert Street, where two assailants in a grey Mazda 3 fired upon a group outside a residence. The victims, who ranged in age from 15 to 22, included a teenager who was killed. Authorities have initiated a search for the suspects and noted that community fears of gang and drug-related violence are intensifying. Premier Ntuli urged public cooperation with law enforcement, emphasizing that information sharing is vital for investigations and preventing future violence.
