NUP condemns Kayunga shooting, campaign tensions flare on the trail

NUP is saying cops shot some guy in both legs while he was waving at Bobi Wine's motorcade rolling through Kayunga District, which just adds to the whole mess between opposition candidates and security forces during campaign season. Joel Ssenyonyi dropped footage showing supporters hauling the injured person away from the roadside and called the situation absolutely unhinged. Kyagulanyi blamed officers for firing live rounds and lobbing tear gas at his convoy, saying they hurt an innocent civilian whose only mistake was backing their campaign.

Police have not dropped any statement yet, and nobody knows who the victim is or how bad the injuries are. Security forces keep insisting they only bust out crowd control tactics when rallies break the law, and they have been accusing NUP of blocking traffic with their convoys and throwing rocks at officers during clashes. The election commission told everyone to stick to campaign rules and promised to check out any confirmed violations by either security agencies or political groups.
