Nvidia debuts GeForce RTX 5050 GPUs at $249 desktop, $999 laptop

NVIDIA launches new graphics cards for computers and laptops this summer. The RTX 5050 series brings advanced gaming features to more people at lower prices. Desktop versions cost $249 and laptop models start at $999. Computer stores will sell desktop cards starting late July. Laptops with the new chips arrive at stores around the world right away.

The graphics cards help games run smoother and look better. They work especially well with competitive shooting games like Counter-Strike 2 and Apex Legends. The technology reduces delays between mouse clicks and screen actions. Single-player games with detailed graphics also benefit from the new features. The cards create extra frames using artificial intelligence to make gameplay feel more fluid.

Desktop models use 130 watts of power and need one cable connection. They contain 2,560 processing cores and 8 gigabytes of memory. The cards work with power supplies as small as 550 watts. Major computer companies will make different versions of the cards. Some will run faster than others right out of the box.

Laptop versions use newer memory technology that saves battery power. The improved efficiency lets manufacturers build thinner and lighter gaming laptops. Some models measure just 15 millimeters thick and weigh 1.3 kilograms. The laptop chips deliver much better performance than older models. Games run more than four times faster when using the newest features.
