NVIDIA driver gives RTX 50 GPUs extra speed

NVIDIA released a new GeForce 576.02 WHQL driver on April 16 that does more than just add RTX 5060 Ti support. Users with RTX 5070, 5070 Ti, and 5080 graphics cards noticed their 3DMark Steel Nomad scores jumped after installing the driver. ComputerBase tested these claims and found real performance gains - the RTX 5080 improved 5.6 percent, the RTX 5070 Ti gained 7.3 percent, and the RTX 5070 saw an 8.4 percent boost. The top-end RTX 5090 barely changed with just a tiny improvement that falls within normal test variation.

The RTX 5060 Ti showed no real improvement since it already launched with an updated driver. These performance gains only appeared in the Steel Nomad benchmark - other tests like Speed Way and Time Spy showed no improvements or even slight decreases. Real games might show different results than these benchmark tests, as ComputerBase has found Blackwell cards sometimes perform better in actual games than synthetic tests would predict.

The driver update also fixes many problems in popular games, including Fortnite, Overwatch 2, Hellblade II, and Control. Players had experienced crashes, stuttering, and visual glitches, which should work better after installing this driver.
