NVIDIAs RTX 5070 Ti Secretly Packs SK Hynix GDDR7

NVIDIA added SK Hynix as a memory supplier alongside Samsung for GDDR7 modules in RTX 50 series cards. Many expected these chips would appear in standard RTX 5070 models. Instead, they showed up mainly in RTX 5070 Ti cards sold in China. Users testing these cards found that the memory rated at 28 Gbps can reach speeds up to 34 Gbps when overclocked. This shows that having SK Hynix as a second supplier does not hurt performance compared to Samsung modules.

The SK Hynix memory works well for general use, but causes problems during BIOS cross-flashing. People who tried moving firmware from Samsung-equipped cards to SK Hynix models faced boot failures. Cards with dual-BIOS features can easily recover from these mistakes. The current firmware already supports Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron memory types. The issues come from power management differences rather than memory problems.

Most users never need to change their BIOS. Each manufacturer builds cards with unique power setups and component layouts. These differences cause problems when trying to use firmware made for other designs. Gamers should stick to safe overclocking for their specific models instead of swapping firmware between different memory types.
