NWF bets big on grassroots wrestling revival

The Nigeria Wrestling Federation established new committees for zonal grassroots development. This decision came from a board meeting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Federation president Bashir Adewale Adeniyi announced twelve commissions, including ones for youth, marketing, and technical rules.

Adeniyi emphasized a shift beyond elite competition toward sustainable talent cultivation. The board reviewed recent international tournament performances. Before the meeting, a delegation visited Bayelsa State to offer condolences for the late deputy governor.

The postponement of a national wrestling championship was linked directly to that official's death. The governor thanked Adeniyi, who also serves as Comptroller General of Customs, for the solidarity visit. The federation's leadership expressed commitment to policies elevating the sport's domestic foundation.
