Obi hails rescue as Kwara church victims are freed

Peter Obi, who ran for president under the Labour Party banner in 2023, has praised security forces and others involved in freeing hostages taken during a church attack in Kwara State and the return of students who fled captivity in Niger State. Obi expressed satisfaction that 38 people seized from Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku have been released and that approximately 50 pupils from St Mary's Catholic School in Papiri managed to escape their abductors and reunite with families. However, he cautioned against letting down one's guard.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq verified the liberation of those taken from the Eruku church in Ekiti Local Government Area. The students who got away had been among a larger group kidnapped from the Catholic school located in Agwara Local Government.
