Officials say student struggle is just a story

Kaur Senior Secondary School threw its biggest party of the year on Saturday, July 5th, 2025. Students, parents, and teachers packed the school hall for the annual Speech and Prize Award Ceremony. The event celebrated graduating students and honored top performers from the Lower Saloum District school. Board Chairman Mr. Hassoum Ceesay told graduates to stay focused and keep praying as they move forward. He praised the school staff for their hard work and dedication.

Principal Amet Jeng shared amazing news about student numbers jumping 41% from last year. More kids want to attend because the school does great on the West African Senior School Certificate Examination. Students from Kaur SSS easily qualify for top universities like the University of The Gambia and other colleges. The school teaches 31 different subjects across science, business, humanities, home science, and agriculture. Teachers work extra hard and offer free weekend classes for Grade 12 students.

The school crushed 72 other schools to win first place at the Fanta Science and Mathematics Quiz competition. Out of 128 students who took the WASSCE exams, 91% passed their subjects. This broke all previous school records and made everyone proud. Trust Bank Gambia gave cash prizes to the best science, business, and humanities students. Comium also supported the school with generous donations.

Keynote speaker Mr. Essa Jallow from the Gambia Teachers Union inspired graduates with his speech about using personal stories for future success. He reminded students that four public universities await them after graduation.
