Ogamba Shakes Up UoN Council, Moves Four to New Spots

Education head Julius Ogamba removed four people from the University of Nairobi leadership roles. He published this decision on April 11 in an official government announcement. The cabinet secretary used his legal powers under section 36 of university laws to make these changes effective immediately. The notice named Sally Toroitich, Ahmed Abdullahi, Dr. Parmain Narikae, and Carren Omwenga as those affected.

These former council members received new assignments at different schools across Kenya. Toroitich will move to the University of Embu in May 2026. Narikae takes a position with the University of Eldoret. Omwenga heads to the Karatina University council. Abdullahi has joined the leadership team at Mama Ngina University College. These shifts happen during ongoing troubles at the University of Nairobi.

The education ministry previously canceled Professor Anangwe's appointment as council chairperson after the teachers' union complaints. University staff accused him of blocking the acting leader from performing job duties. Teachers wanted all council members replaced to improve how things worked. A court later reversed this decision when Anangwe fought his dismissal. Justice Mwamuye stopped the removal notice.
