Ogun First Lady Demands Pharma Overhaul

Ogun State First Lady Bamidele Abiodun wants drug companies to spend more money on local factories. She spoke at a pharmacy meeting Wednesday about making better medicines in Nigeria. The state leader said professionals should build stronger research and production systems. Drug makers need to create more jobs and help sick people get cheaper treatments. Local companies must step up as foreign partners pull back their support.

Government budgets show health care has become more important this year. Federal and state leaders put extra money toward hospitals and clinics. Abiodun praised pharmacists for their good work and high standards. She warned that Nigerian doctors and drug makers face bigger challenges without international help. The country needs new partnerships between government offices and private businesses.

Officials want to build an Ogun State drug center that stores and ships medicines. The project would help local companies make more pills and treatments. Meeting chairman Samson Osewa said groups must work together on health innovations. Universities, businesses and community groups should join forces to help patients. Everyone deserves quality medical care according to the pharmacy leaders.

Adewale Adenugba leads the state pharmacy group and welcomed guests to the annual event. His organization promotes better policies and training for members. The society focuses on professional growth and new medical discoveries.
