Oil companies donate desks worth 20 million kwacha to Mtakataka CDSS in Dedza

Four petroleum companies delivered one hundred desks worth twenty million kwacha to Mtakataka Community Day Secondary School on Wednesday. Total Energies, Petroda, Puma, and Vivo Energy formed Petroleum Importers Limited to make this educational contribution. The donation addresses severe furniture shortages that forced students to abandon their studies at the Dedza district institution. Operations Manager Edmond Pingani stated that private sector involvement helps government efforts to improve learning conditions. The consortium emphasized its commitment to supporting quality education access across Malawi.

Headteacher Madalitso Chidathi reported that Form One and Form Three classes lacked adequate seating arrangements for years. Female students particularly struggled with attendance due to insufficient classroom facilities. Many newly enrolled pupils transferred to other schools or dropped out entirely because of these infrastructure challenges. The school serves two hundred sixty-six students from Chitule, Malili, Kudzawe, and Mkwaila villages. Education officials praised the corporate partnership and encouraged other businesses to support public schools facing similar resource constraints.
