A stone quarry collapse at Krishna Mining Works in the Billi Markundi area of Sonbhadra district has killed one worker, with multiple laborers remaining unaccounted for beneath debris. National Disaster Response Force teams recovered one body during overnight operations and continue searching through collapsed rock layers using heavy machinery, sniffer dogs and technical equipment alongside State Disaster Response Force personnel and local police.
ADG Zone Varanasi Piyush Mordia confirmed his presence at the site with NDRF Deputy Commandant Naveen Sharma and other officials coordinating the emergency response. The collapse occurred during blasting activities, trapping several workers under boulders as a quarry section caved in.
