Ongwediva water crisis after major pipe bursts

A busted pipe just cut off water to an entire Namibian town. Ongwediva faces an emergency supply interruption after a major rupture at the Ongwediva Reservoir near the Emvula Complex in Extension 12, affecting the whole town, according to the local council. Corporate communications head Ottilie Shingenge stated the Namibia Water Corporation and council technicians are working on repairs.

Supply was briefly restored before another scheduled shutdown. Shingenge explained that water would return, then be shut down again for ongoing repairs. Normal service is expected to resume early the next morning.

The town council apologized for the inconvenience caused by the disruption, thanking residents for their patience. The statement provided a clear timeline for the temporary restoration and the anticipated final fix, aiming to manage community expectations during the outage.
