Only Brit Walks Away from Deadly Air India Crash

A British man survived an Air India plane crash that killed more than 240 people. Vishwash Kumar Ramesh was the only person who lived through the deadly accident. The 40-year-old passenger sat near the front of the aircraft when it went down. Home Minister Amit Shah visited Ramesh at the hospital after the crash. Doctor Dhaval Gameti treated the survivor and said he had cuts all over his body but would recover.

The plane crashed right after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport. Ramesh escaped through a hole that opened up after the aircraft hit the ground. He ran through flames and smoke to reach safety. His brother was also on the flight but remains missing. Security cameras caught Ramesh walking toward an ambulance with injuries covering his body.

The aircraft struck several buildings when it fell from the sky. Medical students died when the plane hit their college dormitory. Rescue workers continue searching through the wreckage for more victims. Officials expect the death count to rise as they clear away debris. The crash happened just seconds after the London-bound flight left the runway.
