Opposition Slams Modi's Foreign Policy After Pakistan's UN Appointments

Opposition parties tore into Prime Minister Modi after Pakistan landed major United Nations roles. The rival nation grabbed the Security Council presidency and a top counter-terrorism position. Congress leaders called this a crushing blow to India's international standing. They said Modi failed to make Pakistan a global outcast. The attacks came after deadly violence rocked Pahalgam and India launched military strikes.

Pawan Khera from Congress blasted the government for diplomatic weakness. He said Pakistan's UN success proved India lost the international game. Renika Chowdhury questioned how terrorists killed 26 people at Pahalgam on April 22. She blamed intelligence failures for letting attackers escape. The victims were mostly Hindu tourists visiting the region.

Pakistan took over as Security Council president for July 2025 and became vice-chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee. The country also chairs the Taliban sanctions group. Opposition leaders said these appointments made India look powerless. They argued Modi's foreign trips produced no real results against Pakistan.

India hit back with Operation Sindoor on May 7-8 across the border. The military campaign targeted terror groups and their supporters. Officials described it as punishment for the Pahalgam massacre. Critics said the operation failed to stop Pakistan's growing international respect.

Congress politicians claimed Modi betrayed Indian soldiers and citizens. They said his strategy to isolate Pakistan completely backfired. The opposition painted Pakistan's UN roles as proof of India's diplomatic defeat. They demanded answers about why the government could not prevent Pakistan's international rise.
