Ortom tells Alia to quit blaming and fix Benue

Former Benue State leader Samuel Ortom told current Governor Hyacinth Alia to quit pointing fingers at other people. Ortom wants Alia to work harder on stopping violence and crime across the state. The ex-governor said Alia should follow President Tinubu's security plan that was given to him recently. Ortom's helper Terver Akase shared these comments through a written statement on Sunday. Alia keeps bringing up Ortom's name during discussions that have nothing to do with the former leader.

Akase said Governor Alia and his workers talk about Ortom way more than they should. The current administration blames Ortom for problems that happened before Alia took office. Akase called Alia's claim about four million displaced people completely wrong. The previous government worked with national and international groups to count displaced families properly. Alia received the correct number of 1.5 million displaced people from Ortom's team.

The statement criticized Alia for using politics during serious security problems affecting Benue residents. Armed cattle herders keep killing villagers but the government plays down these deaths. Hundreds of displaced people protested because they feel forgotten and abandoned. The person who should help these families was attending a fancy wedding overseas instead. Ortom's team questioned why President Tinubu's advice has not been followed after five days.

Akase reminded Alia that local governments should control their money according to Supreme Court decisions. These areas received 400 percent more funding since fuel subsidies ended. Ortom's supporters promised to fight back against any more false accusations from the current administration.
