Outjo Fire Station Not Dead CEO Rages at Rumors

Outjo leader Jaco Labuschagne denies claims that the Sophia Shaningwa Fire Station lacks power. The acting chief executive says people spread false information about emergency services. He told reporters the station works fine with prepaid electricity meters installed months ago. Labuschagne feels angry about wrong stories damaging the town's reputation.

The fire station operates normally except for one night when garage doors stayed closed due to low electricity credits. Workers opened the doors by hand and used all vehicles for emergency calls. The municipality runs training sessions and meetings at the facility regularly. Staff never stopped working during the temporary door problem.

Thieves broke into the station and stole fuel from emergency vehicles parked outside. Officials moved the fire truck and ambulance to safer workshop areas away from criminals. The municipality plans to put workers back at the station after improving security measures. Leaders want to change the prepaid meter system back to regular billing.

Residents complain about poor communication during emergency situations. One person said nobody answered phones during a shack fire near the main road. People ran to gas stations for help because council workers seemed unavailable. Citizens want clear information about emergency contact numbers and response procedures.
