Pak army dumps Baloch bodies as cops storm university protest

Human rights organizations reported Wednesday that Pakistani forces killed at least two more Baloch civilians through extrajudicial means. The deaths continue a pattern of persecution marked by rising killings and enforced disappearances throughout Balochistan province. Pakistani forces killed Zaheer Baloch from Gebun in Kech district during a staged encounter on September 19. Authorities had forcibly taken him from his home five months earlier on April 16. Paank, the human rights department of the Baloch National Movement, described his case as another example of systematic disappearances and killings.

Pakistani Frontier Corps personnel disappeared Mehraj Ahmed on September 5 while he traveled from Buleda to Turbat city. Authorities discovered his mutilated remains on Tuesday in Alandoor, the Buleda region of Kech district. Pakistani police also attacked peaceful student protesters at Lasbela University, injuring several participants. The Baloch Voice for Justice condemned the violence against students demanding basic educational rights. The organization called for the immediate release of detained students and proper medical treatment for the injured.
