Panyako rejects CS offer, calls out Ruto’s camp for ‘sycophant’ politics

Seth Panyako says the Ruto government tried offering him a Cabinet Secretary job right after he lost the Malava by-election, and he turned it down because taking it would have been a slap in the face to his supporters who dealt with violence during the campaign. The DAP-K candidate claims officials already approached him once before for a Principal Secretary role following the 2022 elections, when he was still backing Ruto as a UDA member.

Panyako lost to UDA's David Ndakwa by about 1,300 votes, and he thinks the administration targeted him because his platform on maternal healthcare and education reform threatened their messaging. His supporters apparently told him not to join what they called a bloody government once word got out about the alleged ministerial position.
