Parliament suspends sitting after sudden death of Akwatia MP

Parliament shut down after shocking news hit the chamber. Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin told lawmakers that Ernest Yaw Kumi had died suddenly. The Akwatia MP passed away without any warning signs of illness. His death stunned everyone because he seemed healthy and active just days before. Afenyo-Markin could barely contain his emotions as he shared the terrible news with his colleagues.

Kumi had just started his first term after winning his seat last year. Fellow MPs knew him as a hardworking politician who cared deeply about his constituents. He brought energy and strong principles to every debate and vote. The rookie lawmaker had quickly earned respect from both sides of the political aisle. His sudden passing left a huge hole in the hearts of everyone who worked with him.

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga immediately agreed that Parliament should stop all business. First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor approved the request to close the session. Lawmakers will return to work on Tuesday after taking time to mourn their fallen colleague. Political leaders from different parties have already started praising Kumi's character and dedication. His constituents back home are also sharing memories of how he helped their community.
