Paul Hastings hires Jenny Doak and Catherine Richardson in London

Paul Hastings has strengthened its London tax team by recruiting Jenny Doak from Weil and Catherine Richardson from Cadwalader, addressing a recent departure of senior tax leaders to White & Case. The additions follow the exits of Arun Birla, who served as global second managing partner and international tax vice chair, along with tax partner Jiten Tank.

Doak contributes over 20 years of expertise spanning public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital markets, restructurings and tax litigation, with concentrated focus on energy, infrastructure and technology sectors. Richardson specializes in direct and indirect UK and international tax matters, particularly structured credit deals, and was elevated to partner at Cadwalader in 2022.

Frank Lopez, the firm's chair, described the appointments as aligned with strategic goals to develop exceptional tax capabilities in London and worldwide. The London office anticipates revenue growth of 20 to 25 percent this year after expanding 70 percent over the prior two years, though it has experienced several partner departures across real estate and finance practices.
