PDP Dismisses APC's Efforts to Win Cross River North Seats

Cross River State's ruling party brought their entire government north to welcome a lawmaker who switched sides. Peter Akpanke left the opposition and joined the APC after representing his federal district. The state government wants to win over voters in that area during the next election. Opposition leaders say the move will fail completely.

PDP Chairman Venatius Ikem thinks the ruling party wastes their time trying to flip the northern district. He claims most people there support PDP candidates no matter what APC does. The opposition controls one Senate seat from that region and plans to keep it. Ikem says even some APC members back the current PDP senator.

The ruling party chairman feels excited about gaining Akpanke as a new member. Alphonsus Eba believes this switch helps their chances of winning the federal seat. He warned that losing this district would hurt APC badly across the state. Party leaders plan to work hard convincing voters to change their minds.

A top government aide called it embarrassing that opposition groups still resist APC control. The ruling party already holds two other Senate districts but struggles with the north. Local residents will decide based on which politicians deliver real results for their communities.
