Peeping Tom gets 6 months for spying on bathing woman

A magistrate sentenced a worker to six months in jail on Sunday after he admitted trespassing at an inn and watching a woman entrepreneur through a bathroom window. Ahmad Farhan Rizal Abdullah, 29, pleaded guilty to both charges at the Magistrate's Court, and Magistrate Noor Mazrinie Mahmood ordered concurrent sentences of six months for voyeurism and three months for unlawful entry. Prosecutors charged Ahmad Farhan under Section 509 of the Penal Code for peeping at a 36-year-old woman at 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 26 at an inn in Manir near Kuala Nerus, and Section 448 for criminal trespass.

The victim and her husband from Ampang in Selangor had rented the property for four days starting on Aug. 25 to film a commercial featuring Malay traditional attire. Kuala Terengganu police chief Azli Mohd Noor said the woman noticed a silhouette holding a mobile phone outside the bathroom window while bathing. The incident gained attention on social media after the victim reported the crime to authorities.
