Peevski's war on middle class fuels Bulgarian budget protests

Bulgaria's Yes party leadership accused oligarch Delyan Peevski of commandeering the government to wage economic warfare against working citizens through a destructive spending blueprint. Co-chairman Bozhidar Bozhanov portrayed Prime Minister Boyko Borisov as a mere instrument in Peevski's assault, while colleague Ivaylo Mirchev highlighted schemes to seize the Lukoil refinery through nationalization and monopolize lottery operations for personal enrichment.

Parliamentary representative Martin Dimitrov noted that Brussels confirmed their warnings about permanent damage to national fiscal discipline, with citizens suffering through elevated levies, future debt burdens, and inflation from reckless spending. The opposition coalition summoned demonstrators to Parliament Square while proposing over thirty cost-cutting reforms, ranging from bonus caps across judicial and regulatory bodies to anti-fraud medical verification systems.
