Peshawar police use tear gas on protesting Khyber employees

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government workers demonstrated outside the provincial assembly Thursday, seeking salary adjustments and pension policy changes. The employees demanded a thirty percent disparity allowance increase to match federal worker benefits. Their protest blocked Khyber Road completely, creating major traffic problems for citizens. Police deployed tear gas against the demonstrators when tensions rose. Protesters responded by throwing stones at officers before dispersing temporarily.

The workers have maintained their demands for multiple days, requesting equal treatment with federal employees. Economic inequality and benefit modifications have sparked widespread dissatisfaction among provincial staff members. This confrontation demonstrates mounting frustration within the government workforce. The demonstration highlighted significant differences between provincial and federal employee compensation packages. Public inconvenience resulted from the road closure during the protest action.
