Plateau Governor condemns mob attack on travelers in Mangu District

Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang spoke out against a deadly mob attack that killed eight people on Friday. The violence happened at Mangun District when travelers from Kaduna State lost their way during a trip. A group of 31 people from Basawa community had left Zaria for a wedding ceremony at Qua'an Pan. They rode on an Ahmadu Bello University bus but took a wrong turn somewhere along the route. The travelers stopped to ask locals for directions when angry crowds attacked them.

The governor went to see the attack site and visited hurt people at Mangu General Hospital. He called the mob violence terrible and said it could have been prevented easily. Mutfwang explained that innocent people got caught up during their journey through a dangerous area. He said the same young people who help security forces should not become attackers themselves. The state leader promised to punish everyone who took part during the deadly incident.

Mutfwang told the families of dead victims that he felt sorry for their loss. He also sent his sadness to Kaduna State officials and the Zazzau Emirate leaders. The governor plans to send important state representatives to Kaduna to meet with victim families. He ordered doctors to treat all injured travelers using government money for their medical bills.
