Playlists boost hits but not staying power, warns fan

Entertainment guy Stanley Udeh dropped thoughts about how Nigerian artists basically ditched radio tours and magazine spreads to chase Spotify and Apple Music playlist spots instead, saying platforms like African Heat or New Music Friday Naija can blow someone up faster than months of traditional promo. Songs hit hard when algorithms favor them, but tank just as quickly when playlists refresh, which means artists gotta pump out tracks constantly to stay visible.

The shift toward streaming killed off the personal connection fans used to build through interviews and live shows, and Udeh thinks artists are becoming faceless names who score trends without building lasting brands. Digital tools crack the door open for global reach, but old-school promotion apparently builds the foundation that keeps careers from collapsing after one viral moment fades.
