Police arrested Java and Rupare for a Mukuru robbery

A midday Mukuru robbery in Mabelreign ended with two arrests after cops nabbed the suspects at a roadblock with stolen cash.

Java and Rupare grabbed over US$5,000 on Saturday

• Tanaka Java, 42, and Ronald Rupare, 28, got busted for the armed heist.
• They allegedly attacked a Mukuru employee and swiped the cash around 12:30 PM.
• The duo also took more than 26,000 South African rand during the robbery.
• A third suspect managed to slip away and is still dodging police.

Public tip led cops straight to the getaway route

• ZRP Mabelreign responded fast after getting a report and public tip-off on Saturday.
• Officers chased the suspects and caught them at a Quinton Road roadblock in Avondale.
• Cops recovered ZAR 10,000 from the arrested men at the scene.
• Commissioner Paul Nyathi praised the public for helping track down the robbers.
