Police Investigate Death of 16-Year-Old Girl Who Drowned in Nyamindi River

Police officers want to know why a teenage girl died after falling into a river. Joy Njeri from Kimbimbi village disappeared on June 15 when she went swimming. Her mother told Wang'uru Police Station that the 16-year-old had not come home. Officers found the girl's body floating in Nyamindi River with no cuts or bruises. Doctors will check what caused her death at Kibugi Mortuary.

Health experts warn that millions more children could drown before 2050. They say communities need to build fences around dangerous water areas. Schools should teach kids how to swim and stay safe near rivers and lakes. Adults must learn how to save drowning people and bring them back to life. Towns should also make better rules for boats and manage flood dangers.

Most countries have rescue teams that help during water emergencies. Many places run programs to protect people from floods. When someone almost drowns, helpers should call for medical aid right away. The person needs to lie flat on hard ground for chest pumping if they cannot breathe. Quick action can save lives when people fall into deep water.
