Police investigate viral video of attempted robbery and gunshot in Seri Alam

Authorities have initiated an investigation following the circulation of a video that captured a gunman discharging a weapon during a robbery attempt in Taman Megah Ria, Seri Alam. The footage, which lasted 31 seconds and appeared on Facebook July 19, documented the perpetrator firing one round before escaping on a motorbike. Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak from Seri Alam police confirmed that the shooting occurred at 7:10pm on July 19 without causing harm to any victims. Officers have not yet identified the male suspect's ethnic background. The case falls under Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, which mandates either capital punishment or life imprisonment with whipping for firearm-related robbery offenses.
