Police caught three car thieves in the Federal Capital Territory after someone called about a stolen Toyota Corolla. Officers tracked the gold 2005 model vehicle to a workshop in Durumi, where criminals changed its color. The team found another stolen car at the same place, a red Toyota Corolla reported missing from Jikwoyi. Both cars had been taken from their owners' homes.
The arrested suspects include Steven Musa, painter David Dalyol, and mechanic Ibrahim Mohammed. During questioning, they admitted they belonged to a car theft group operating across the Wuse, Central Area, Jikwoyi, and Bwari areas. The group stole numerous vehicles, fixed them up, and sold them as newer models. Police plan to charge them in court once they finish their investigations. FCT Police Commissioner Ajao Adewale recommends that car owners install tracking devices to help recover stolen vehicles.
The thieves tried making the stolen cars harder to spot through quick paint jobs and repairs. Their operation targeted residential areas where vehicles might sit unattended. Police acted fast after receiving the initial theft report. The recovery shows how tracking technology helps solve these crimes. Local authorities continue looking for additional stolen vehicles connected to this gang.
