Police nab two for cannabis in Dowa District

In a swift police operation, law enforcement nabbed two suspects caught red-handed with illegal cannabis at Dzaleka Refugee Camp on Saturday. Remasi Mziiki, a 22-year-old Congolese refugee, and Gosta Mvula, a 52-year-old local from Jeputala Village, found themselves in hot water after an anonymous tip pointed officers straight to illicit drugs.

Dzaleka Police Unit stormed Mziiki's Lisungwi residence and struck gold. Marijuana stashes hidden inside food containers, a sack, and a plastic bag revealed the scope of their illegal operation. Digging deeper, cops tracked down Mvula lurking near Mziiki's place, carrying a laptop bag packed with cannabis ready for street sale.

When grilled by authorities, neither suspect could produce a shred of documentation proving legal rights to possess or sell the controlled substance. Both individuals quickly found themselves under arrest, with law enforcement seizing every last gram of contraband for detailed assessment. Police records revealed Mziiki wasn't a first-time offender, having previously been convicted of a similar narcotics offense.

The dynamic duo now faces serious legal consequences. Prosecutors are preparing to drag them before a judge, where they'll answer for their brazen attempt to distribute illegal drugs. Their upcoming court appearance promises to be a pivotal moment in shutting down local drug trafficking efforts at the refugee camp.
