Police urge caution as schools reopen for 2026 term

Cops are begging everyone to keep kids safe as schools head back. The police issued a nationwide plea targeting parents, schools, and transport drivers. They warned drivers to avoid speeding and ensure vehicles are properly certified for road use. Overloading school buses under any circumstances must be strictly avoided to prevent accidents.

Authorities also urged that learners never travel at night due to the risks of crime and crashes. Children should not attempt to cross flooded rivers or bridges on foot or in vehicles. The statement highlighted the danger of carrying large amounts of cash for school fees. Paying through banks or official channels prevents attracting armed robbers to school premises.

Keeping money on site can lead to violent robberies and endanger students. The police spokesperson emphasized compliance with all road regulations as a critical measure. This collective caution aims to protect learners during the busy back-to-school period. The appeal stresses shared responsibility across the community for child safety.
