Prof Idi Menya Swears to Crush Ugandas Corruption

Idi Menya wants to become Uganda's next president. The 36-year-old teacher from Cavendish University made his announcement Thursday in Kamwokya. He says the country faces serious problems with corruption and unfair treatment. Menya thinks democracy is getting weaker each year. He promises major changes if voters pick him.

Menya plans to free all political prisoners first. He says the government arrests people who disagree with leaders. Many regions like Karamoja and Busoga suffer from extreme poverty. The country loses 10 trillion shillings each year because of corrupt officials. Leaders take money meant for helping citizens.

Parliament costs citizens far more than it should. Ugandan lawmakers earn higher salaries than European politicians. Menya wants to cut the number of representatives in half. He also plans to reduce their pay significantly. The country borrows money but wastes it on the wrong things.

Schools need major improvements across Uganda. Education should cost families nothing at all. Young people drop out because they cannot afford fees. Menya believes learning breaks poverty cycles. He wants other opposition groups to work with his Civilian Alliance movement.
