QDOBA taps ex-KFC lawyer Cathy Tang as first CLO

QDOBA snagged an old KFC executive to finally fill their empty top legal chair, immediately naming Cathy Tang as chief legal officer. This move reunites her with CEO John Cywinski after she spent time running things at Pursuit Collection. Tang takes charge of compliance and risk management while guiding franchise strategy for the Mexican fast-casual chain which operates around 840 joints across North America and parts of Asia.

Cywinski hyped the hire claiming he feels lucky to have an executive of her caliber back on his team. He mentioned seeing her skills firsthand when she reported to him at KFC Corporation. The boss believes her deep background in restaurant franchising combined with a collaborative mindset helps the brand reach maximum potential.

Tang brings over thirty years of experience, having worked in previous stints at Krispy Kreme and Yum! Brands where she handled legal duties for Pizza Hut. Her resume also lists time at tech giant Dell and Pepsi after starting out in private practice. She expressed excitement about partnering with franchisees to build upon the company foundation.

This appointment fills a vacancy left open for years after Charles Seigel exited to work for the Vegas Golden Knights hockey squad. Other chains recently made similar plays as GrubMarket picked up Jorge deNeve while Starbucks grabbed Pilar Ramos to replace a retiring executive.
