Queens fall short, home crowd dreams of podium finish

Malawi's netball squad ended up fourth at the Africa Netball Cup after dropping the bronze-medal match to Zimbabwe 48-44 at Griffin Saenda Indoor Sports Complex. Coach Peace Kalua Chawinga said the younger players handled the pressure decently, and she viewed the whole thing as a solid learning experience, even though they couldn't adjust their strategy after halftime when Zimbabwe started exploiting gaps.

South Africa dominated both titles by beating Uganda in the women's final and Zimbabwe in the men's championship. Netball Association of Malawi president Vitumbiko Gubuduza thanked everyone involved, and he noted that hosting strengthened regional connections.

Ministry of Sports and Culture official Jameson Ndalama called it a showcase of African athletic talent, while African Netball president Rebecca Gaogoses praised the local organizing committee for pulling off a memorable tournament.
