Raga Dee threatens lawsuit against Mikie Wine over Nkugguddemu Oyagala Cash remix

Veteran Ugandan musician Dan Kazibwe has initiated legal action against fellow artist Michael Mukwaya for alleged copyright violations. Kazibwe, performing under the stage name Raga Dee, filed formal accusations through MDG Law Advocates on July 16, 2025. The dispute centers on Mukwaya's unauthorized remix of the 2004 track titled Nkugguddemu Oyagala Cash. Lawyers claim that Mukwaya, professionally known as Mikie Wine, made minimal modifications while preserving the core elements of the original composition. The remix reportedly appeared on various digital platforms without proper authorization.

Raga Dee secured copyright protection for his original work more than two decades ago and has maintained exclusive performance rights since publication. Legal representatives argue that Mukwaya violated Uganda's Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act through unauthorized distribution across social media channels and video streaming services. The complainant demands 300 million shillings compensation within seven days of the notice. Mukwaya had not issued any public statements regarding these allegations when reports emerged.
