Rahul Gandhi leads opposition protest in Parliament against Bihar voter roll review

Opposition legislators gathered outside Parliament on Friday to demonstrate against Bihar's electoral roll revision process. Rahul Gandhi led the group that tore red placards bearing SIR symbols and deposited them into a makeshift container. The demonstrators displayed banners describing the revision as an assault on democratic principles.

Congress leaders questioned the transparency of information sharing during the electoral process. Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other party members participated in the symbolic demonstration at Makar Dwar. Opposition members argued that the Election Commission's actions would prevent citizens from exercising their voting rights.

The Election Commission reported covering 99 percent of Bihar's 7.89 crore eligible voters through the revision exercise. Officials identified 21.6 lakh deceased individuals and 31.5 lakh permanent migrants during the process. The commission also located seven lakh duplicate registrations and one lakh untraceable voters across the state.
