Indian Railways launched freight operations from Nagaland in September after successfully establishing service in Mizoram. The first inbound train carried 41 cement wagons from Telangana to Molvom station on Sept. 24, while the initial outbound shipment transported 42 wagons of stone chips to Tripura on Sept. 29.
The railway network expansion continues with the Dimapur-Kohima project. Officials completed track construction to Molvom, but work on the final segment to Zubza requires completion by December 2029.
