Raj Babbar still gets chills playing Udham Singh

Portraying a freedom fighter really sticks with an actor. Raj Babbar shared thoughts on playing Sardar Udham Singh, posting a throwback clip on the revolutionary's birth anniversary.

He called the Jallianwala Bagh massacre a deep injustice, noting the British punished General Dyer, but true vengeance came from Udham Singh himself in England. Babbar said taking on the role was a thrilling and profound personal experience, saluting Singh as a symbol of fierce courage. He played the part in the 1999 Punjabi film Shaheed Uddham Singh, released near the figure's centenary.

Udham Singh, born in 1899 in Punjab, is remembered for assassinating Michael O'Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor linked to the massacre, an act viewed as retribution for the atrocity.
