Rajasthan achieves 70 percent power capacity from renewables, says Pralhad Joshi

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi opened the 435-megawatt Gorbea Solar Power Project in Rajasthan. The state generates seventy percent of its electricity from renewable sources. Solar installations provide 29.5 gigawatts while wind energy contributes 5.2 gigawatts. Zelestra India developed the facility across 1,250 acres within eight months. The project operates under a 25-year agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India.

The installation will produce 755 gigawatt hours of clean electricity each year. Power generated will serve approximately 128,000 households across the region. Carbon emissions will decrease by 705,000 tonnes annually through this initiative. Local farmers earn a steady income by leasing their agricultural land. Construction employed over 700 workers from surrounding communities.

Advanced solar technology powers the facility through bifacial modules and robotic cleaning systems. Rajasthan has completed 49,000 rooftop solar installations under government programs. The state installed 145,000 solar pumps through rural electrification schemes. India reached its renewable energy targets five years ahead of schedule. The country achieved a fifty percent non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
