Ramathuba eyes undocumented migrants in Limpopo crackdown

Limpopo's controversial boss is back patrolling borders for undocumented travelers. Premier Phophi Ramathuba watched authorities detain Zimbabwean nationals lacking proper papers at the Groblersbrug Weighbridge within the Waterberg district. This crackdown follows stats showing the South African National Defence Force intercepted over a thousand people recently.

Agents from the South African Police Service, alongside the Border Management Authority, halted a car concealing three passengers without a visa status. Ramathuba insisted that enforcing regulations isn't xenophobic since she feels connected to fellow Africans while maintaining that unauthorized entry remains illegal under state rules.

A minibus taxi driver got caught transporting passengers without valid identification. The operator offered an apology. Ramathuba warned him that aiding unlawful entry has consequences. She wished to attend his court hearing to make an example out of those facilitating these border crossings.

She argued that financial struggles never justify criminal acts like hijacking or illegal migration. Ramathuba previously gained internet fame as Health MEC back in 2022 for yelling at a patient about burdening taxpayers. That past viral moment drew heavy criticism for being unprofessional.
