Rani Kapur urges Sona Comstar to defer AGM, alleges coercion and fight for control

Rani Kapur contacted Sona Comstar's board members and shareholders to prevent new director appointments and postpone the Annual General Meeting scheduled for Friday. The mother of deceased Sunjay Kapur claims others coerced her into signing documents that people misuse to seize company control following her son's death. She asserts her position as majority shareholder under her late husband Dr. Surinder Kapur's will grants her sole authority to represent family interests. Kapur requests a two-week delay to collect necessary information and demands full cooperation from company officials.

Sunjay Kapur died June 12 in England at age 53 after suffering a heart attack during polo. The company quickly appointed Jeffrey Mark Overly as chairperson on June 23 following his death. Rani Kapur describes her son's death as mysterious and states that mourning family members faced immediate pressure to sign controlling documents. She denies authorizing anyone to represent the Kapur family on corporate boards and demands that leadership decisions require her explicit approval.
