Ras Pompy jailed after Harare Broncleer car chase

A Harare court sentenced Zimdancehall artist Nyasha Reginald Mano to six months' imprisonment for illegal drug possession. Magistrate Gamuchirai Gore convicted Mano, who performs under the stage name Ras Pompy, after prosecutor Mandirasa Chigumira established his guilt during trial proceedings. The musician violated the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act when authorities discovered controlled substances in his vehicle. Police records had flagged his black Honda Fit as a suspected drug distribution vehicle operating along Kambuzuma Road. Officers from CID Drugs Harare identified the car during morning traffic on July 16, 2025.

Mano accelerated away when detectives signaled him to stop, leading police through Rugare suburb before crashing into a metal pole. Authorities recovered approximately 100 bottles of various cough syrups valued at 396 US dollars from the damaged vehicle. The seizure contained 24 Broncleer bottles, 20 Benylin containers, and 55 Astra Pain cough syrup bottles, each measuring 100 milliliters. Police confiscated both the narcotics and the Honda Fit following Mano's arrest. Detectives transported the performer to CID Drugs Harare headquarters for processing.
