Real Madrid battle past Juventus 1-0 to face Dortmund

Real Madrid crushed Juventus with a single goal to book their spot against Borussia Dortmund. Young star Gonzalo Garcia headed home his third tournament strike to seal the victory at Hard Rock Stadium. Kylian Mbappe made his comeback from sickness as a second-half substitute. Coach Xabi Alonso praised his team for grinding out the tough win against the Italian giants. Madrid controlled the second period but Juventus goalkeeper made several brilliant saves.

Borussia Dortmund squeezed past Monterrey with a 2-1 victory to earn their Madrid showdown. Striker Serhou Guirassy bagged both goals for the German side during a sweaty clash in Atlanta. Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos nearly forced extra time with a late header that sailed just wide. Dortmund coach Niko Kovac believes his team can challenge Madrid if they repeat their performance. The Germans will miss Jobe Bellingham after he picked up a yellow card suspension.

Juventus manager Igor Tudor blamed exhaustion and brutal heat for his team's defeat. Ten players wanted substitutions as the humid Miami weather drained their energy levels. Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois admitted Juventus created problems but credited his teammates for staying patient. Alonso expects Mbappe to contribute more heavily during the upcoming quarter-final battle. Dortmund faces their Champions League final opponents from 2024 with confidence after surviving the Monterrey scare.
